Careyes is known for its visually glorious scenery and unique style of architecture, which has become world famous. Houses are painted in vibrant colors and have fabulous towering palapas housing living and dining areas. Candelabros is no exception. This spacious villa sits on 5,000 square meters of land overlooking the brilliant ultramarine blue Pacific Ocean and was designed to be as comfortable for a large group as it is for just one couple. In front of the main house is a long infinity swimming pool, which wraps around the terrace, with a small fountain and heated Jacuzzi. Two other features of this fantastic villa are the wonderful 200-year-old sculptural candelabros cactus trees and a romantic three-story master bedroom tower. Throughout the villa’s interiors are large rooms filled with contemporary works of art mixed with stylish Central American Textiles and Mexican treasures. Outdoor living spaces include covered and open terraces with large comfortable sun beds and oversized pillows.

A cobblestone walkway and stairs lead down to the beautiful Playa Rosa beach (three minutes on foot and one by car), where there is a restaurant under a large palapa. There is also El Careyes Hotel, which has a restaurant, pool, small beach, tennis courts, an excellent spa and shops (which will ship to the U.S). For those wanting golf, there is a spectacular course, which is carved into the jungle along the beach in Tamarindo, about 45 minutes south.

A private dirt 1,200 meter (4,000 feet) landing strip is located 10 minutes south of Careyes. Manzanillo is 1 hour north and Puerto Vallarta is 2½ hours south. While the Manzanillo airport is closer, most major airlines fly into Puerto Vallarta.

Altiplano is a unique and very private villa located in ultra chic Careyes, a magnificent stretch of coastline between Puerto Vallarta and Manzanillo. Sitting amidst 3,735 sq. meters of tropical gardens with a large variety of local flora and fruit trees, this very stylish villa has breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. Designed to take advantage of the scenery, Atliplano looks out to seas across a broad terrace to the infinity pool, which has a small waterfall at one end and a heated Jacuzzi and pergola at the other. Like all the villas of Careyes, this wonderful house has large rooms and fantastic views of the ultramarine blue Pacific. Also like most villas here, Altiplano has a huge 21’ high palapa, supported by towering tree trunks, housing the main living and dining areas. Throughout the villa are original contemporary works of art, mixed with great looking Central American textiles and various Mexican treasures.

Aguazul is perched on a cliff overlooking the sea and it has absolutely breathtaking views. Located in the very chic and very private resort of Careyes on Mexico’s Pacific coast, this wonderful house is a marvelous combination of Mediterranean design and Mexican style. Aguazul is entered via a stone mosaic walkway. Along one side of the path is a wall with tall niches holding large pots overflowing with ferns and on the other is one of the guest casitas set in a lovely garden. Straight ahead one sees through the house to the ocean beyond – a sublime visual.

Past the entrance hall and nestled between two patios is the dining room. A few steps beyond, one steps down to the living room which is completely open to the ocean. Across the lawn is an infinity pool surrounded by a checkerboard terrace with a bougainvillea-laden pergola, which provides shade to a decadently large day bed. On the same level is the huge master bedroom, which is separated from the main house by a staircase leading up to a roof terrace. Just below the pool is the third bedroom with a private terrace overlooking the ocean below.

Aguazul was designed so that all rooms benefit from the extraordinary view and each of the air-conditioned bedroom suites is completely independent so as to provide the maximum amount of privacy. This wonderful villa is perfect for two, four or six people.

Distances (approximate)
Chamela, 10 minutes north of Careyes has a 4000 ft. dirt strip for light aircraft. Manzanillo is one hour south and Puerto Vallarta is two hours north. While the Manzanillo airport is closer, service is more limited even though it is served by international airlines such as Continental, Alaskan and Mexicana. Puerto Vallarta is served all major airlines.
