Nestled on the grounds of a former coconut plantation, Villa Paradiso is a private enclave of beachfront villas sitting directly on 650 ft. of palm-studded Pinney’s Beach. Inspired by the magic and beauty of Bali, renowned designer Adam Tihany has created the villas to blend seamlessly and naturally into their gorgeous setting on the island’s prettiest beach.

The overall design, so indigenous to the Balinese house, guarantees total privacy for guests. Hand-hewn doors in each villa’s walled perimeter open into a private courtyard and an exotic double-doored entry. With soaring 16 ft. hand-woven palm roofs and views to the Caribbean Sea, one’s first impression is of breathtaking beauty and serenity. Each of the fully air-conditioned 3,500-square-foot villas has its own tiered pool with a waterfall, views across the Caribbean to St. Kitts, lush gardens and a thatched dining pavilion. Mr. Tihany has combined minimalist Eastern elements with tropical style and the results are dazzling.

Hill Rise House is a charming West Indian style home with gingerbread trim sitting on a hill 500 feet above sea level. This location is perfect as it has constant trade winds and a panoramic view of the Caribbean and the islands of St. Kitts, Saba and St. Eustacius. Hill Rise House also enjoys spectacular sunsets and later a fairyland of twinkling lights below in Charlestown, the very appealing capital and birthplace of Alexander Hamilton. Nevis is a small peaceful island steeped in history and several of its former plantations are now marvelous small hotels. One of them, Montpelier, is just a few minutes walk as are the Botanical Gardens.

Both the main house and guest house are comfortably decorated in “colonial plantation” style with lots of antique furniture, as well as traditional Lloyd Loom, mahogany, teak and rattan. They also have large verandahs and overlook the 40′ swimming pool and pool house below. This wonderful 2½ acre compound also has very pretty gardens surrounding all of the buildings, which are set apart for privacy. At the entrance to the property is a gatehouse where the laundry is located and off to the side is the tennis court.

Staff
Donna, the wonderful housekeeper, comes in every morning (at variable times) except Sundays and holidays to make beds and tidy up. She has no fixed hours and will launder anything that doesn’t require special care. Bernard is the gardener and he works weekdays from 7am to 3.30pm. The pool is serviced twice each week.

Advance food shopping. Donna is also an excellent cook and is available to either cook and leave meals or to cook and serve meals.

Notes
Beaches and Charlestown are about 15 minutes. There is a Robert Trent Jones 18-hole golf course at the nearby Four Seasons Hotel. Hill Rise House may also be rented with fewer bedrooms for smaller groups. There is no dishwasher. There is usually a resident cat but it doesn’t bother guests.  Guests need to bring their own tennis racquets and balls. The fax is in the guest house (if only the main house is being used and a guest needs to use the fax, Donna can let them in).

Chez Wilson is a very spacious, private and recently modernized villa located on the Western side of Nevis. Located nearby are the Four Seasons Resort with its 18-hole Robert Trent Jones golf course and Pinney’s Beach. This lovely palm rimmed beach is one of the best on the island and has great views towards St. Kitts.

The villa is discretely hidden behind a 17th century stone wall on two sprawling acres full of palm trees, lush plantings and fruit trees. Built around a tropical courtyard, Chez Wilson also has a magnificent 65 foot infinity pool.

Bathridge is a five-acre estate located on a hillside with marvelous views of St. Kitts, St. Eustatia and Saba in the distance. To its north and east is the 3,000′ Mt. Nevis, which provides much of the island’s water from its numerous springs. This somewhat mysterious looking mountain is an ever-changing backdrop for the property and is a favorite destination of hikers as well.

Cooled by constant trade winds, Bathridge is a very spacious and airy house. It was designed so that all rooms have spectacular views and is filled with lovely and very comfortable furniture and has tile floors with kilim rugs. As it’s built on one level, the many glass doors provide easy access to the terrace, gazebo and a custom lap pool with a separate Jacuzzi. Down from the gazebo is a homegrown fun putting green located just below the old cistern on the very large grounds. This very attractive house is perfect for a family as it’s so conveniently located. It’s also wonderful for two couples as the master bedroom and two large guest rooms are on opposite sides of the house.

Vervain Mill, is loaded with charm and is located on two acres of land on the southeast side of the island. This stylishly renovated mill is part way up the hill towards Mt. Nevis and so it always has cooling ocean breezes. Built during the days of grand sugar cane plantations, it was originally an 18th century working, wind-powered mill for pressing sugar cane. The property, with its wonderful ocean views and stone ruins, now has three bedrooms and bathrooms, a pool and a gingerbread gazebo. Nearby is the equally charming Golden Rock hotel, a former plantation, which is fun for drinks or a meal.

This secluded villa is situated of the edge of the lush tropical rain forest and has beautiful views of the Caribbean, St. Kitts and St. Eustatius. Cool tropical cool breezes are always present at this romantic house, which also has wraparound covered verandahs and exotic tropical gardens with delicious fruit trees. The shady courtyard is perfect for relaxing and watching the spectacular sunsets from the pool is fabulous.
